Internship
We are currently seeking 3 exceptional candidates for a position designed to serve as a gateway to either a long-term technical career within our organization or as an ideal foundation for doctoral studies.
Location: Remote-first, with potential for relocation to Singapore.
Start Date: Flexible. The position will remain open until filled.
Role Overview
This is a high-impact internship for early-career scientists and engineers who want to work in quantum machine learning, at the intersection of quantum algorithm theory and real-world implementation.
The position is structured as the first stage of a 24-month trajectory:
- an initial 6-month internship;
- followed, for successful candidates, by an 18-month research position.
This path is intended both as preparation for a long-term technical role within the company and as a strong foundation for future doctoral studies. The candidate will work at a high scientific standard within a team with strong research credentials and collaborators in quantum computing and related fields.
Job Scope
The selected candidate will contribute across research, implementation, and applied project work. In particular, the role includes:
- Writing new quantum machine learning algorithms targeting important open problems in biology, with a strong emphasis on theoretical rigor, algorithmic quality, and technical depth;
- Developing the company’s core technology and using it to implement, test, and validate those algorithms, translating theoretical ideas into practical implementations on hardware and software systems; this includes access to substantial GPU computing resources and LLMs for training and evaluating powerful models at scale, in order to maximize the impact of research efforts;
- Supporting the company’s operations, including contributions to customer-facing research projects and internal products developed for leading institutions and high-profile customers, as well as other applied technical work;
- Supervising junior researchers and students, including 6-month internships and Master’s thesis-level projects;
- Contributing toward publishable research outcomes, with the goal of producing at least one research paper based on the company’s technology, targeting leading venues in quantum computing and machine learning (for example, NeurIPS, Quantum, and related venues);
- Presenting results externally when appropriate, including opportunities to attend conferences and visit partner research institutions with which we collaborate.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field.
- A background in quantum computing is preferred, but not mandatory for candidates with particularly strong software engineering and mathematical skills;
- Proven proficiency in software engineering, algorithmic thinking, and formal reasoning;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with intellectual rigor;
- Ability to bridge theoretical research and implementation, and to develop solutions that can be tested in practice;
- A disposition toward integrity, adaptability, and long-term thinking.
Compensation and Progression
Compensation will depend on the candidate’s profile and experience. For strong candidates, the package is intended to be meaningfully above typical internship compensation offered in many large-company environments for comparable early-career roles.
Successful candidates who complete the program will be considered for a permanent position within the company, with the possibility of participating in the company’s employee stock option plan (ESOP) and receiving equity-based compensation.
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit a single PDF document including their CV and a concise Cover Letter.
Your application should address the following:
- Your academic and technical background, and its alignment with this role;
- Examples of interesting problems you solved;
- Your expectations for professional development and mentorship;
- A concrete example of how you have successfully applied a large language model in practice.
Selected candidates will be contacted for technical interviews.
